Colour of the Season

Green Is definitely appealing - it is the second most popular colour in the world, right behind blue. The designers state that it is the colour of the season and that, “it is a shade which has natural vitality because of its roots in nature. Subtle colour from textural and botanical prints, and the use of faux or real flowers underline the colour palette’s natural inspiration”.

I love all shades of green especially the elegant teal shades. Here's to going green!

Flowers and Spring Showers

The birth flowers for April are the Sweet Pea and Daisy and the garden centres advise us to plant out our Sweet Pea seedlings this month or, sow seed direct in their final flowering position. I spend quite a lot of time in the potting shed this month as I plant Begonia tubers in pots and for filling gaps in the garden, I also plant Lilies in pots so that I can move them around.

While researching for what flowers I can plant this month, I found this excerpt from a poem written in 1926 by Robert Frost.  The weather is behaving exactly as described whilst I’m writing this…

You know how it is with an April day when the sun is out and the wind is still You’re one month on in the middle of May But if you so much as dare to speak, a cloud comes over the sunlit arch And wind comes off a frozen peak And you’re two months back in the middle of March.
